Takeout-style crispy wings tossed with sizzled garlic, jalapeño, and cracked black pepper for serious crunch.
Ingredients (serves 4)
- 2 lbs chicken wings
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp chinese five spice
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 jalapeño
- 2 scallions
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil

Pat the wings dry and toss with cornstarch, half the salt, and half the pepper until lightly coated.

Heat the oven to 425°F and bake the wings on a greased wire rack for 40 minutes, flipping once, until crisp.

Slice the garlic thin, and thinly slice the jalapeño and scallions.

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high and sizzle the garlic and jalapeño for 1 minute until fragrant.

Add the hot wings, remaining salt and pepper, and the five spice, and toss for 1 minute to coat.
