Shrimp Fra Diavolo 🌶️
Plump shrimp in a fiery garlic tomato sauce over spaghetti, the devilishly spicy red-sauce classic done in half an hour.
Ingredients (serves 4)
- 1 lb shrimp
- 12 oz spaghetti
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup parsley
- 1 tsp oregano

Boil the spaghetti in salted water until al dente, reserving 1 cup pasta water before draining.

Toss the peeled shrimp with salt and half the red pepper flakes. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high and sear the shrimp 1 minute per side, then set aside, they will finish later.

Add the remaining oil, sliced garlic, oregano, and the rest of the pepper flakes and cook 1 minute until golden.

Pour in the wine and simmer 2 minutes, then add the crushed tomatoes and simmer until thickened, about 8 minutes.

Return the shrimp and cook 2 minutes until opaque throughout.

Toss with the spaghetti and pasta water, shower with parsley, and serve hot.
