Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 1 jar crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 1/2 cup basil
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt
  • black pepper

    Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

    Finely dice onion and mince 3 cloves garlic. Mix with ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper.

    Roll into 20 meatballs. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.

    Brown meatballs on all sides, 10 minutes total. Remove and set aside.

    Add 1 minced garlic clove to pot, cook 30 seconds. Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, stir well.

    Return meatballs to pot and simmer, uncovered, until sauce thickens, 20 minutes.
